"Funny story about adopting Spanky. I had been looking for a dog for about six months and wanted to adopt from the Humane Society. I would stop by once a week to see what kind of dogs they had available, but I never really found one that wanted me as much as I wanted him. I stopped one Friday and they actually had two dogs that I really liked. A Cocker Spaniel and Spanky. Someone else was walking Spanky so I took the Cocker Spaniel which I really liked. Spanky had other plans, and while we were walking he kept coming over to me. The lady said I think he likes you - so we exchanged dogs. I ended up adopting Spanky and she adopted the Spaniel.
They wouldnÕt let me take him home that day (they had a waiting day). So they put my last name on SpankyÕs cage. My son and daughter were helping me look for a dog. For some reason, I donÕt remember why, my son stopped by the Humane Society later that day. He didnÕt know that I had been there and adopted Spanky. He called me from the Humane Society and told me there was a perfect dog there. But someone else had adopted him. I told him that was our Spanky. We still laugh about that."
